The Scottish Borders is a mecca for road and leisure cyclists, with its gentle hills, relatively little traffic and beautiful countryside. The Tour of Britain has passed through several times, and you’ll see lots of keen leisure and club cyclists out on the roads.
There are several designated cycle routes, including the 250-mile Border loop, the 89-mile Tweed Cycle Route, and the 55-mile circular Four Abbeys Cycle Route.
The best starting point for cyclists is the Cycle Scottish Borders website, where you’ll find details of cycle routes, clubs, bike shops and B&Bs taking part in the Cyclists Welcome Scheme.
