The Scottish Borders is an exceptional place for horse lovers – horses are a way of life here! Our famous annual common riding festivals are a unique chance to see and take part in spectacular mass ‘ride outs’ through the Borders countryside.

You’ll also find pony trekking and riding lessons available at the many riding schools and stables in the area.

The Borders branch of the British Horse Society runs an annual Borders Festival of the Horse – a feast of equestrian events for riders and spectators, including guided rides, horse trials and training events.
