World Suicide Prevention Day
World Suicide Prevention Day happens on the 10th September.
Every year a different theme is focused on and this year the theme is ‘Take a minute, change a life.’
Approximately one million people die by suicide each year, and this can be prevented. Evidence suggests that appropriate prevention treatment can reduce suicide rates.
The main aims of World Suicide Prevention Day are:
- Raise awareness that suicide is preventable
- Improve education about suicide.
- Spread information about suicide awareness.
- Decrease stigmatization regarding suicide.
